| Let me share with you a maybe not-so-shocking news: I did not sign up for Cheryl's run. To the bulk of the people who knows me as a mesomorph, sorry to disappoint you all, but you won't see me running anywhere near my peak.
I was talking to A. Emily 2 sundays ago and she shared with me how she has signed up to run a minimum of 6 rounds around the track (=equivalent to 2.4km). I went like "Wow" and she asked me if I've signed up. I told her, "no, because I may not be able to take part", and she was shocked. She said that she and U. Leo had signed up for it, that in fact most of our cell members had signed up for it, thinking that I would definitely take part.
Therefore, it is not because I don't want to take part, but because I may be tucked away in a faraway corner of Singapore preparing for the ipho. I was told that we would have ipho pre-camp before the actual event itself, and I couldn't confirm whether it would start on 1 July or 3 July. From my own knowledge, it should be 3 July, but then again, I have been hearing so many versions of the story that I've decided to keep myself free or any involvement from 1 July.
Hence, if I happen to be free on that day, I will run, not to achieve a personal best, but to act as pacer for those who need me to run and give them moral support.
Oh and by the way, I don't update this blog regularly. I develop websites for fun, so why would I want to use this platform when there are other better blogging systems out there, and when I have a full-fledged website elsewhere?

| The media coverage on Shufang has definitely bought many readers to learn of her plight. She was first featured on the Straits Times during Christmas last night, and recently, just the Sunday that passed. Whether the media, as claimed by some of her friends, as blew the situation out of proportion is debatable, but one thing I'm certain of the following things:
- Awareness of that malignant tumors that may arise from benign (or seemingly harmless ones.
- The need to show our appreciation to our loved ones, to treasure every relationships we have, because there's no point saying anything when it's too late
- Life is precious. Isn't each person's life worth as much as the other? Aren't we all privileged?
- But perhaps more importantly, this incident has united a lot of Christians in their prayers for her. For the first time, I see so many people setting forward, saying implicitly that they are Christians, and quoting Bible verses, encouraging her about what Jesus has promised and how much God loves her. Maybe the fact that the newspaper highlighted that she's a Catholic contributed partly to this phenomenon that we see, but definitely, Christians uniting in this way is indeed heartening and encouraging.
"And in going the extra mile..." that was the spirit we shared in the Peer Support Board. Do check out http://joanchanshufang.blogspot.com to view the overwhelming support she has received thus far. | | |
| My professor descibes Chrisitanity as a religion that will appear pecuilar to people who do not subscribe to this faith. Christians themselves find it difficult to explain or even describe the personal relationship they have with God to non-Christians. Non-christians find it strange that people in the 21st century would believe in something that defies Science and Logic.
I have problem with his statments actually. God has been silent in my life since day 1. That was something which I didn't understand at all. P. Kenny talks about the honeymoon period that new Christians experience and I wondered to myself what happened to mine. I have a feeling it's due to the fact that I'm super analytical. I seek the truth, not just from the Bible, but also through secular methods. I strongly believe that the Truth will withstand all sorts of questioning. Maybe I didn't let God talk. I read about too much stuff. In fact, I hold a slightly different opinion on the 'Gospel' of Judas...I don't think it has sufficient materials in it to become a Gospel, yet I won't say that the Sethian Gospel is full of rubbish. The fact that it was written and circulated means that it has a place in history (and yes, I'm talking from the archaeology point of view), and will be important as an artefact to understand the lives of early Christians. I only see the end result, that Jesus died on the cross to atone for our sins. That is consistent to me, and I'm happy at that. Whether Judas betrayed Jesus or not doesn't quite affect me, because I really believe that the masses at that time would have plotted against Him anyway...and He was sinless.
Other than that which bothers me, I'm really glad that we sang 'Above All' today. I have often wondered we never played that song...but today I got my wish. It was really something out of the ordinary. When we were singing the chorus, a blackout occured. But it was also at that instant, when I really poured my hearts out and sang...that His power simply filled and filled my entire body. Wow. I never expected that. But it was so clear...and strong and lasted for my conscience to detect it.
Leck Seng is right. I must learn to trust, have faith, and not let the feelings distract me. I will cling, because I believe...and even though I don't fully comprehend everything, I believe I will understand more and more each day, as long as I am patient.
"If you know it's the truth, even when there are some questions, then can you choose not to believe?"
